A Brazilian man, accused of homicide and domestic violence, was captured today in the city of Bernardo de Irigoyen, Misiones, during an operation coordinated by the Border Intelligence Division, the Investigations Division, and the Radioelectric Command of Regional Unit XII, at the request of assistance from the Civil Police of Brazil. Police sources reported that the detainee was identified as Ezequiel Matías D. S. Z., 22, from the state of Paraná, who had a pending arrest warrant issued by the city of Realeza and was in Misiones territory wearing an electronic judicial ankle bracelet. After several undercover surveillance tasks, agents managed to intercept him as he was walking through the Santa Rita neighborhood, where he was subdued without offering resistance. During the procedure, 22-year-old Argentine citizen Nicolás Eduardo L. was also detained; he was accompanying the fugitive and was taken for identification. Subsequently, both were lodged at the jurisdictional police station. Finally, judicial authorities have initiated extradition proceedings so that the Brazilian detainee can be made available to the Justice of his country, within the framework of binational cooperation agreements on security and the fight against cross-border crime.
